There’s a Place for ICE

with apologies to Leonard Bernstein

This is meant to be sobering, disturbing; not entertaining. –df

I rejected the idea of an eternal burning hell forever ago. I do believe in an afterlife for those who want to find themselves in the embrace of God. Those who don’t, FOR THE MOST PART experience the end of everything when they take their last earthly breath. But I think that whatever is out there, our participation in it or not is determined by how we live in the here and now. Not what we think or say we believe. How we live.

Fully willing to accept God as UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and my woeful inability to come close to understanding what that is comprehensively I also think God respects the decisions we make and takes a hands off approach to getting really evil types off the hook—as in the case of Trump pardons.

Hitler made choices. Netanyahu is making choices. Trump is making choices. Noem is making choices.

Whatever is out there as to afterlife, our participation in it or not is determined by how we live in the here and now. Not what we think or say we believe. How we live.

The people that they are abusing and killing aren’t statistics; they are human beings beloved by God. Period. God doesn’t stop loving us if we choose to refuse to live according to the ways of love, and as such God will let us live with the consequences of our evil.

So after giving up preaching about hell long ago as I mentioned, I still believe people can choose to be separated by God for eternity with full awareness of the separation and an eternity to think about the faces and screams and pleas from each one they abused; no escape. I never did think God sent people to hell; but again if that is what someone chooses God doesn’t intervene.

What’s happening now in our country builds on other evils; some historic, some contemporary. Whatever God is, God is the enemy of evil even if its perpetrators call it good.
